Tristan Fisher at HP Plotter wins Print Hottie 2013

20 December 2013 - 15:52

The Print Hotties Award is run by the Output Magazine and is cited as "the print industries most fun, flirtatious and flattering competition in the print world". Now in its second year, the Print Hotties Award attracts great attention from the print community and generally lifts everyone's spirits at the end of what's been a very active (and somewhat hectic) year. It's designed to highlight the handsome chaps that shine within the print industry who keep the workflow warm through the long winter nights. Put another way, the editor was bored of seeing women draped over printers and using sex as a selling technique so this competition was set up to show off the men instead.

As a female MD this is an interesting, if somewhat tongue-in-cheek Print Award. Output Magazine are on a mission to highlight the issue in trade shows around the country, where they often see scantily-clad ladies in the sample files. They want to see a change and challenge marketeers with: "...this luddite way of selling is putting young women off print at a time when the industry desperately needs fresh blood, and our Hotties competition is, in part, an effort to highlight this problem".

So...we thought we'd lend a helping hand and joined the print industry with our two very game volunteers, Tristan Fisher (Apprentice Engineer) and Norman Lawrence (our Senior in-house Engineer).  Both entered into the spirit of the event, with Tristan providing a subtle muscular arm pose - allowing us to neatly pick up 1st prize. Meanwhile our handsome 6ft 4" Engineer Norman gained a highly credible 6th place posing next to our own-brand large format paper - you'll be pleased to know we forbade him to wear a man-kini in the interest of good taste.

We're very proud of them both for agreeing to participate - but most of all they are indicative of our whole company - not just our engineering team - as they're happy to go 'above and beyond' the call of duty all year-round, keeping everyones HP Designjet and Laserjet printers in optimal working order.

We're looking forward to next year and would like to take this opportunity of thanking all of our customers, suppliers, and HP distribution channel who voted for us - as well as the many other competition entrants who were game for a little year end frivolity!
